Kathmandu, July 6
ICA Nepal in collaboration with Kalpa Academy certified 35 youths as Sustainable Development Ambassadors. They were trained for a year on various aspects of sustainable development by a team of experts from ICA and other international organisations. Robertson Work, former Senior Advisor at UN Headquarters, Social Artistry Facilitators Janet Sanders and Evelyn Philbrook and Prof. Dr. Tatwa P. Timsina and Ishu Subba from ICA contributed as trainers/facilitators for this programme.
Minister Shakti B. Basnet, of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation as chief guest of the programme opined that youths should focus on the development of the country and find ample opportunities locally. He shared several indicators that show the country is heading towards development and prosperity and no one should be discouraged by the disinformation which is rampant in the society. The students were from Kantipur City College (KCC).
SDG Youth Ambassadors also shared their learning and presented several case studies, drama etc. Various eminent people namely Prof. Ram K. Regmi, Prof. Dr Tatwa P. Timsina, Dr Pralhad Karki, Suman Katuwal, Daya Sagar Shrestha, Subash Nepali, Raju Kattel, Ratna Karki etc. highlighted various aspects of sustainable development and the role of youths in achieving it. Ravi Khanal, Coordinator of the Programme shared that this initiative would be continued in the future as well.
